Three gardens in Weymouth & Portland among best in Britain

Weymouth and Portland in Dorset can now boast three of the very best gardens in Britain in 2014.

Easton Gardens on Portland and Sandsfoot Gardens and Greenhill Gardens in Weymouth have all won prestigious Green Flag awards.

The awards, which are given out by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognise and reward the best parks, gardens and green spaces across the country.

All three gardens in Weymouth and Portland have great facilities. Easton Gardens has mature trees, a play area and toilets. Greenhill Gardens on Weymouth Seafront is surrounded by a putting green, bowling green, tennis courts, cafes and toilets. Sandsfoot Gardens has a café, toilets and the remains of a Tudor castle in its grounds.

Weymouth Beach named one of the best in the country

Weymouth Beach has once again be named one of the best beaches in the country. Weymouth Beach has kept its Seaside Award (formerly the Quality Coast Award) in recognition of its high standards of beach management, facilities, cleanliness and water quality.

The South West region boasts the most award-winning beaches in the country, with 49 named this year. In total, 19 beaches in the South West have Blue Flag status and 30 have earned the Seaside Award.
